About

OUR STORY

In August 1998, the Tanz und Plattler group was formed by former youth group members who were looking for a new dance experience. Initially, it was a continuation of their youth group activities, involving fun, dance creation, and travel.

However, in 2001, their dancing perspective changed when they discovered the "Gauverband Nordamerika" and its event, "Gaufest 2001 - a Gaufest Odyssey." Intrigued, they attended, and the experience transformed their lives

They witnessed the Chiemgau dancers, which left a lasting impression on them, and they decided, "we can do that." This decision led to their transformation into GTEV Chiemgau Windsor in November 2001.

In 2002, they received a grant to purchase authentic Tracht and began practicing their dances regularly. They sought guidance from experts in the Chiemgauer style to improve their skills. Their Tracht was refined with help from Hilde Dufter, Trachtenwartin of the Chiemgau Alpenverband.

In 2003, they attended Gauball of the Chiemgau Alpenverband and had a memorable experience with the Dufters, gaining insight into their passion for Trachten. They continued to strengthen their ties with the Chiemgau community.

In 2006 and 2010, they participated in the Munich Oktoberfest Trachten parade, a significant achievement.

They set a Guinness World Record in 2013 for the most dancers around a maypole, with support from local Trachten Verein.

In May 2015, we saw our dream of marching behind our own club flag become a reality. Our Paten Verein GTEV Edelweiss Detroit, STV Bavaria, Cleveland, Gemutlichen Enzianer, NY, St. Catharines, Ontario,  GTEV D'Lustigen Isatraler, Pittsburgh, Bavarian Sports Club, Toledo had representatives there to celebrate the day with us, in addition to other local German Clubs.

2016 they marched behind their club flag in the Gaufest of the Chiemgau Alpenverband. Their dedication to Bavarian traditions and culture earned them a special place in the Chiemgau community.

Their history wouldn't be complete without recognizing the support and guidance they received from GTEV Edelweiss Detroit, their Paten Verein. They learned a lot about Bavarian traditions, songs, and music from their members, fostering a strong friendship.

Looking forward, they continue to embrace and honor Bavarian culture and traditions, excited about the next chapters in their club's history.
